Near Piazza Libertà is Piazza Garibaldi. The inhabitants of Bassano also call it the 'Piazza della Fontana' or 'piazza delle Erbe', because for centuries the vegetable market was held there. The square, definitively arranged by Antonio Gaidon in 1776, is adjacent to the Torre Civica in the north and the church of San Francesco and the Museo Civico in the south. In 1898 the arrival of a water pipeline which, drawing from the Fontanazzi springs, brought in full center pure spring water, represented a fact of even national importance. The work was celebrated with the construction almost in the center of the Bonaguro fountain square. The work was created by the sculptor Carlo Spazzi and named after the mayor Antonio Bonaguro, who donated it to the community on the occasion of the inauguration of the public aqueduct.
