The Chiesetta dell'Angelo or del Suffragio was built by Giovanbattista Bricito in 1655 at the behest of don Domenico Da Veggia as a fulfillment of a vow made to Blessed Giovanna Bonomo, co-patron of Bassano del Grappa, and dedicated to the Guardian Angel who had appeared to her . Architecture is a typical example of the local taste of the time. To the west is the chapel with a marble altar and the altarpiece dedicated to the Guardian Angel. The small church, covered by an oval dome, displayed a rich decorative apparatus, partly preserved in the Museum and partly present in the metope of the frieze (forty canvases depicting saints, angels and archangels). The small church was built on land donated by Pietro Stecchini, who bought it at the time of the Napoleonic suppression in 1810, and was mainly used as a private oratory open to the public only in very limited circumstances (on Easter Monday and on of the feast of the Madonna del Carmine). In 1978 La Chiesetta was donated to the Municipality of Bassano del Grappa which, together with other public and private organizations, promoted architectural and pictorial restoration. Beginning in 1985 it became the site of cultural initiatives such as temporary exhibitions, conferences and debates organized by the Department of Culture of Bassano del Grappa.
