Today the building can be identified from the wording on the facade "Caserma trenta Maggio". Until a few years ago, it had been a military prison, which is now no longer used. Built in 1865, the structure had been designed, like all the Hapsburg buildings in Peschiera del Garda, as bombproof. This way of building was innovative for the time. Thick embankments were placed between the roof and the floor. This way the building withstood bombings and fires.
