

The AFMU association was established in 1972 with the aim and main objective of integrating the hearing impaired person on an equal footing in everyone's world.
It represents children, deaf young people, their families and all those who share its aims.
The activities of the association, carried out in compliance with assumptions and fundamental principles that are considered essential points of the associative life, are listed below:
- Assistance to parents, the hearing-impaired and families.
- Collaboration with organizations and institutions for diagnostic activities, prophylaxis, education and social integration of the deaf person.
- Promotion, organization and management of services, research activities, information and training courses for families and operators, both in the health and education sectors.
The AFMU is a territorial section of the FIADDA active throughout the national territory and, at European level, a subsidiary of Fedepa.
Since 1986 he is part of the Permanent Observatory at the Ministry of Education, for the policies concerning the integration of disabled people in the school.

The dissemination of information is a commitment that AFMU, in harmony with the other FIADDA territorial sections, has made since the date of its establishment, and with the support of technical-scientific consultants the following key points of its association policy have been formalized:
- information to the population on the causes that cause auditory minorities (inheritance, inbreeding, rubeola in pregnancy, drug intoxication or intake of ototoxic drugs, etc.)
- sensitization on depistage and early diagnosis in early childhood (optimal period of the test in the range of the first vaccinations)
- information on adequate and personalized prosthesis depending on the type and hearing loss, and immediate audiophonic rehabilitation / educational therapy through the current systems.
- Accompaniment in the insertion scholastic from the nursery to the highest levels of studies in the school of all ..
The above materialized with the organization and participation in conferences and the drafting of scientific articles, in collaboration with the Audiology Operating Unit of the Ca 'Foncello Hospital in Treviso.
As mentioned above, one of the main objectives of the association was scholastic help, aimed at the re-education of spoken and written language and, for this purpose, two "Logogenia" laboratories were supported in favor of 3 AFMU students implemented by the Logogenia cooperative of Mestre (VE).
Recently the AFMU wanted to make its presence felt more widely, by publishing a periodical magazine in which the activities organized by the Association are published and finalized.
Meetings are also organized with experts of developmental age and socio-cultural outings to please the meeting and exchanges and friendship between families.
